USU Students Rock the TSC

Utah State University’s Music Department presents the annual spring concert for the USU Guitar Ensembles Monday, April 23, at 7:30 p.m. in the Taggart Student Center Auditorium.

“This concert features something for everyone and will be a great show,” said Corey Christiansen, visiting assistant professor.

Students will perform works by Eric Clapton to Duke Ellington, from Astor Piazzolla to Moussorgsky. Works include Message in a Bottle, Guitarmageddon and It Don’t Mean a Thing (If it Ain’t Got That Swing).

Both large and small ensembles will perform the varying musical styles and works presented in the concert.

The guitar ensembles have been performing at USU since Mike Christiansen became director in 2008. Music majors participate in ensemble groups in order to progress in their skills and prepare for the professional world. Mike Christiansen directs the acoustic ensembles and Corey Christiansen directs the electric ensembles.

“This concert follows a long tradition in the guitar program here at USU and features both acoustic and electric guitar ensembles,” said Corey Christiansen.

Tickets are $10 general admission, $8 seniors and youth, $5 USU faculty and staff and free for USU students with ID. For more information and tickets, visit the CCA Box Office located in room 139-B of the Chase Fine Arts Center on USU’s campus, call 435-797-8022 or see the Caine College of the Arts website.
