USU HASS Hour: 'Big Idea, Tiny House'

Architect Steven Mansfield is the next HASS Hour speaker, a program provided by the College of Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences at Utah State University. Mansfield is a faculty member in the college’s Interior Design Program.
 
Mansfield is featured Thursday, Dec. 17, and will present “Big Idea, Tiny House: An Integrated Approach to Teaching the Design Process using CAD, Architectural Graphics and Presentation Skills.”
 
HASS Hour is open to everyone and is held at Hamilton’s Steak and Seafood the third Thursday of each month. It features USU faculty from the college’s departments and programs discussing a variety of topics from their areas of expertise, presented in what is called the “TimePiece.”
 
Organizers promise an hour of good food, good company and intellectual engagement.
 
HASS Hour begins at 5:15 p.m., with the TimePiece beginning at approximately 6 p.m.
 
Mansfield has been a part of USU’s Interior Design Program since 2002. He completed his undergraduate work in urban planning then went on to complete graduate work in architecture, both at the University of Utah. He is a licensed architect and his architectural experience extends more than 20 years, focusing on both commercial and residential design.
 
Professionally, Mansfield has received numerous awards, including the 2007 HASS Teacher of the Year, Arts Division; a 2007 Excellence in Education Award from the Logan LDS Institute of Religion; the 2008 Mortar Board Top Professor award; and the 2009 ASUSU Outstanding Professor Award.
 
HASS Hour is held at Hamilton’s Steak and Seafood, 2427 N. Main Street, Logan. A buffet with appetizers, desserts, soft drinks, ice tea or coffee is offered. Cost is $6.95 per person (plus tax and gratuity) and is billed on an individual basis. Guests can also order from the menu, and a cash bar is also available.
