USU Fulbright Scholar Program Workshop
The Utah State University Provost’s Office sponsors a workshop detailing the “Fulbright Scholar Program” Thursday, March 19, 1:30-3:30 p.m. in the Taggart Student Center, Room 336.
The workshop is presented by Muriel Joffe, an assistant director from the Council for International Exchange of Scholars (CIES). CIES administers the Fulbright Scholar Program, the U.S. government’s flagship academic exchange effort, on behalf of the United States Department of State, Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs.
In this workshop, faculty will learn about the various Fulbright programs and what they need to do to participate in these programs. All USU faculty and administrators interested in the Fulbright Program for Faculty and Professionals are encouraged to attend.
“We are holding this workshop to introduce faculty to the various Fulbright programs that provide them with opportunities to teach and do research abroad,” said Edward Reeve, interim vice provost for international education.
The workshop will focus on teaching and research opportunities in 130 countries. Joffe will cover how to successfully apply to the programs, review which countries offer the programs and will discuss the benefits of participating in the Fulbright Scholar Program.
“Participating in international experiences such as Fulbright helps faculty internationalize their teaching and research efforts so they can better prepare our students for a ‘global literacy’ that will be needed in their future careers,” Reeve said.
Seating is limited. To reserve a seat, email Tammy Firth, tammy.firth@usu.edu, by March 16.
