Second Tooele Dean Candidate Announced

The second of two finalists for the dean and executive director position at the Utah State University Tooele campus will visit Tooele and Logan.

Candidate Gary Straquadine, currently professor and associate dean of the College of Agriculture at USU, will be on the Tooele campus Monday, Nov. 3.  He will be featured in an open forum on the Tooele campus from 4-5 p.m. Straquadine will then be in Logan Nov. 4 visiting with various groups and constituencies.
 
“The Tooele Regional Campus, with its growth in enrollment, programs and faculty has an exciting future ahead, and we see this as a unique opportunity for extraordinary new leadership,” said Raymond T. Coward, USU’s executive vice president and provost. “We’re delighted to have Dr. Gary Straquadine as a finalist for the position of dean and executive director of the USU Tooele Regional Campus.”
 
Straquadine, who received his doctorate from Ohio State University, was previously vice provost of academic and faculty services at Utah State and earlier served as the head of USU’s Department of Agriculture Systems and Technology Education.
 
An award-winning teacher and student mentor, Straquadine has extensive expertise in curriculum reform, extension and outreach education and has actively promoted scholarship and fellowship support of students. Straquadine has published more than 70 professional papers and articles on agricultural and science education and related areas and has been awarded nearly $750,000 in extramural funding.
