Lowered Flags Honor Utah Serviceman
Utah Gov. Jon M. Huntsman, Jr., has authorized the lowering of the national and state flags today, Wednesday, June 4. Flags will be flown at half-staff at all state facilities from sunrise to sunset in honor of Lt. Jeffrey A. Ammon.
Lt. Ammon died May 20, 2008, as a result of injuries suffered from an improvised explosive device in the Aband District, Afghanistan. He was attached to Commander Navy Region Northwest, Bangor, Wash., and was serving in Afghanistan as a member of Provincial Reconstruction Team Ghazni.
A memorial service is June 4, 2008, at Naval base Kitsap-Bangor, Wash.
