The Salt Lake Tribune has posted an item on its Web site calling for votes.
Yes, it’s that time of the year, but this time people get to vote for good design. Good building design.
The site notes that the Utah chapter of the American Institute of Architects and the Salt Lake Tribune encourage readers to vote on their favorite designs from state architects for 2008. Included on the list of candidates are two facilities associated with Utah State University, the Merrill-Cazier Library and the American West Center’s Shoshone Interpretive Center. The two are among the 32 buildings on the list. The entries came from this year’s Utah Architecture Design Awards competition.
The Tribune site notes that a jury of experts will choose honorees in several categories. Winners will be honored at an award dinner Nov. 7 in the rotunda of the State Capitol building.
“For this ‘People’s Choice’ award, voters are invited to choose their three favorite designs from any category,” the Web site states. “Readers can only vote once, and voting runs through Nov. 1.”
Take a look at all the candidates at the site, and cast your vote for your top three favorites. Let’s get out the vote for USU.
