Flags at Half-Staff

Utah Gov. Gary R. Herbert has authorized the lowering of the flag of the United States of America and the flag of the State of Utah Thursday, July 21, in honor of Lance Corporal Norberto Mendez Hernandez.

The flags shall be flown at half-staff at all state facilities from sunrise to sunset on July 21 only.

Lance Corporal Norberto Mendez Hernandez was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 5th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, Camp Pendleton, California.

Lance Corporal Hernandez died on July 10, 2011, while serving in Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom
