Flags at Half-Staff

Utah Gov. Gary R. Herbert has authorized the lowering of the flag of the United States of America and the flag of the State of Utah Saturday, Aug. 13, in honor of Sgt. Daniel D. Gurr.

The flags shall be flown at half-staff at all state facilities from sunrise to sunset Aug. 13 only.

Sgt. Gurr, 21, of Vernal, Utah, died August 5, 2011, in Helmand Province, Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. He was assigned to the 3rd Reconnaissance Battalion, 3rd Marine Division, II Marine Expeditionary Force (Forward), Okinawa, Japan.
