Dual Achievements for USU Engineering Professor

Utah State University engineering professor David Bowles was recently named a Diplomate, Water Resources Engineer (D.WRE) of the American Academy of Water Resources Engineers (AAWRE). In addition, Bowles was also awarded a certificate of appreciation for patriotic civilian service to the United States Department of the Army. 

The AAWRE encompasses water resources engineers from the Environmental and Water Resources Institute of the American Society of Civil Engineers to improve the practice, elevate the standards and advance the profession of water resources engineering. The organization provides specialty certification for water resources engineers.
 
Diplomate status is a voluntary credential that recognizes advanced expertise in water resources engineering, extensive experience, strong ethics and a commitment to life-long learning and continuing professional development.
 
With more than 25 years experience as a water resources engineer, Bowles was nominated as an “Eminent Practitioner” and was able to forgo the interview process.
 
The 2007-08 inductee group will be recognized at a special ceremony and reception during the May 2008 World Water &Environmental Resources Congress in Honolulu, Hawaii.
 
Bowles was honored by Major General Riley, director of civil work for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers for his service in the Interagency Performance Evaluation Taskforce where he worked to assess the performance of the Southeast Louisiana Hurricane Protection Project following the aftermath of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita.
