David Peak to Lead Next Faculty Workshop

Utah State University professor of physics David Peak, will host a faculty workshop, “Does Size Matter? Searching for Rhymes and Reasons in Term-End Student Questionnaires at USU.”

The workshop is Wednesday, Oct. 22, in the Center Colony located in the Taggart Student Center room from 3 to 4 p.m. Light refreshments will be served.

Student ratings of teaching are used in tenure, promotion and salary adjustment decisions and thus, they affect faculty beyond helping improve instruction,” said Ann Austin, vice provost for faculty development and diversity.

Peak has been a professor of physics at USU since 1996 and served as assistant department head for ten years. During his tenure at USU he has taught 16 different courses, ten of which he introduced into the curriculum. His classes include Pathways to Knowledge, Physics of Complexity, Chaos Under Control, Physics of Living Systems and Science, Art and Music. Peak was named the College of Science’s Teacher of the Year in 2003, Undergraduate Research Mentor of the Year in 2005 and Faculty Advisor of the Year in 2008.

The Provost's Lecture Series for faculty development is a program that brings noted international scholars and prominent USU scholars in teaching and learning to campus. More information on the scholars, recordings of the lectures and extra learning tools are available at www.usu.edu/faculty_development/lectures.
