Calling All Songwriters: Science Hosts 'String Theory' Competition
Jot down those wicked sweet lyrics along with that righteous tune that’s been coursing through your brain and show your fellow Aggies what you’ve got.
“We encourage all Aggies to sign up for the USU Science Council’s March 19 String Theory Songwriting Competition,” says Mitch Morgan, Science Week coordinator.
Held in conjunction with College of Science Week March 19-23, the seventh annual contest is open to all Utah State University students. The competition will be held at noon in the Taggart Student Center International and Sunburst Lounges.
The first place winner will receive a $50 gift card from competition sponsor KSM Music of Logan.
The March 19 performances are free and open to the public.
“Back by popular demand, this competition is a fun way to get the entire university involved in Science Week and showcase some serious talent,” Morgan says.
Contest winners will be selected by a panel of judges using a point system based on such criteria as lyrics, technique, presentation, audience response, clarity and rhythm.
“You don’t have to be a perfect singer or musician,” Morgan says. “The point is to have fun and engage the audience. And no, the lyrics do not have to be scientific.”
For complete contest rules, a registration form and further information, visit the contest website or stop by TSC room 326.
