Alternative Transportation Week

Aggie Blue Bikes, a department in the Student Sustainability Office at Utah State University, is hosting USU’s first ever Alternative Transportation Week. The week-long event is open to any faculty, student or staff member of Utah State University.

Participants need to swipe their USU card at Aggie Blue Bikes between Oct. 24 and 31 if they commuted to campus using one of the following forms of transportation: cycling, walking, carpooling or riding the bus. Aggie Blue Bikes will track the numbers and give prizes to active participants on a daily basis.

The driving force behind the event is to create incentives for people to take a look at their transportation habits and see if they can make reasonable adjustments to fit their lifestyle. For example, riding a bike to school when the weather is nice or perhaps committing to ride the bus one day or more per week.

The group’s hope is to motivate people to take the next step towards exploring commuting alternatives.
