A Voice in History

Utah State University Special Collections and Archives in the Merrill-Cazier Library has been involved in several oral history projects detailing life in northern Utah, including the Grouse Creek Cultural Survey and Cache County Women During the 1930s. The organization recently started a new survey called the Latino Voices Project that will represent an important segment of Utah’s community, said Randy Williams, folklore curator for USU Special Collections and Archives. Utah’s population is 10 percent Latino and their voices certainly do not make up 10 percent of the archive, said Williams. Oral histories should tell the story of a place, and the stories should represent all those in the community.
