About This Degree

The Environmental Science and Sustainability major integrates coursework in biological, chemical, and physical principles with environmental social science and management.

Students have a wide range of opportunities to enrich their education at the Quinney College of Natural Resources, including undergraduate research, internships, and more.

Graduates will have a wide variety of career options open to them, including scientific research in governmental and private organizations, environmental management, scientific communication, and policy analysis.

What You Will Learn

This major is designed to be interdisciplinary. Students will study a foundational series of courses in biology, chemistry, geology, and mathematics, as well as courses in environmental policy and management.

Electives in three areas – Sustainability & Human-Environment Systems; Atmosphere, Geosphere, and Hydrosphere; and Environmental Management & Sustainability Techniques – will allow students to customize their degree to fit their interests.
