About This Degree

The Environmental Planning Bachelor of Science focuses on how human settlement and culture interact with the environment. Students build expertise in large-scale environmental analysis and work with experts in other fields to make better land-use decisions and policy.

What You Will Learn

Through lessons on environmental planning, economic development, natural resources, and environmental policy, students learn how to engage and benefit communities with landscape-level planning projects. Graduates of the program are ready for multiple levels of professional practice.

Environmental planners are development experts who focus on the sustainability and conservation of natural resources. They work closely with government agencies to determine the potential impact of development proposals, ensure they comply with state and federal guidelines, and limit pollution and other negative effects on landscapes and ecosystems.

Admission Requirements

In addition to Utah State University’s admissions requirements, the environmental planning program has additional requirements:

  • First-Year students: First-Year students must be admitted to USU in good standing to qualify for admission to the program.
  • Transfer Students: Transfer students from other institutions and students transferring from other USU majors need a 2.5 total GPA for admission to this major in good standing.

International students have additional admissions requirements.
