Zions Bank Presents Check to Support Families of Accident Victims
On behalf of Utah State University, President Stan L. Albrecht accepted a check from Zions First National Bank, a subsidiary of Zions Bancorporation. The $10,000 donation is expressly earmarked for support of the families affected by the Sept. 26 van accident that so deeply affected the university and community.
Brent Nyman, region advisory board member, and Bruce Rigby, area president, represented Zions. The donation followed a recommendation of Zions' Regional Advisory Board for Box Elder/Cache counties.
"We are pleased to participate during this time," Rigby said. "The regional board unanimously agreed that it wanted to do this."
Community support and interaction is an objective for the bank, Rigby and Nyman said, and a decision was made to become involved following last week's tragic event.
"The bank wanted to do something and we are pleased that our institution can come together with your great institution at this time," Nyman said.
President Albrecht said the accident victims and families are being honored in two ways. A memorial scholarship fund has been established in the names of the students and their families. A second account has been established to directly help the families. The Zions gift goes to the family support fund.
