Youngsters Need Social Skills as Well as “3 R’s”

Helping your young child learn letters and numbers is admirable, but you need to focus on social skills as well, says Utah State University professor Shelley Lindauer. Providing your preschooler with opportunities to interact with other children in structured activities will help them learn to regulate their emotions and get along with others. Social and emotional development, says Lindauer, is important to your child’s later success in school.
