Workplace Wellness Week 2013

Did you know that there is a full week dedicated to workplace wellness?

After all, nearly everything has a day or week dedicated to celebrating its very existence. If there is a national day for pancakes and margaritas, workplace wellness certainly deserves a full week in the celebration lineup.

So, mark the calendar for April 1 — that’s when the wellness week bandwagon rolls.

Initiated by the American Heart Association, the U.S. House of Representatives passed a resolution that designates the first full week of April as “National Workplace Wellness Week.”

Starting April 1 and continuing throughout the week, Utah State University’s Employee Wellness Program will focus on some aspect of wellness. Activities will include free events such as a Yoga class, a Brown Bag and a running clinic, to name a few. There will also be a variety of resources available on the USU Wellness Program website, including healthy recipes, a yoga video and sample workouts that can be done at home.

More details on Workplace Wellness Week is available online or contact Dayna Barrett, USU wellness coordinator, at dayna.barrett@usu.edu or call 435-797-8519.

Barrett invites everyone to join the USU Wellness Program celebrate Wellness in the Workplace during the first week of April.
