Welcome to Campus

Utah State University President Stan Albrecht provided a personal welcome to students arriving on campus Saturday, Aug. 19. That welcome included more than a smile and a handshake. The president, joined by First Lady Joyce Albrecht and several USU administrators, put a little muscle into the welcome as they helped students move into campus housing. The Aggie Move In Crew also had the opportunity to meet and visit with parents who accompanied the new students.

President Albrecht pitched in with students moving into the new Living-Learning Center on the west edge of campus. Two buildings in the complex are ready for students. They feature theme areas that include “leadership house” and the “Honors floor.” Students in other freshman interest groups moved into Mountain and Valley View towers Saturday as well, and President Albrecht also worked at that site.

Many freshmen arriving on campus will check in by Tuesday, Aug. 22, to participate in the Connections Program that provides a five-day orientation to campus and academic life.

Students and their families were treated to a welcome barbeque later that evening on the TSC plaza, where they were introduced to a variety of available services on campus and activities sponsored by Housing and Dining Services and the Student Involvement and Leadership Center at USU.
