Wade Denniston Named Assistant Media Relations Coordinator in USU Athletics

Wade Denniston has been named assistant media relations coordinator with the Utah State Athletics Department. He officially began his duties March 23.

Wade Denniston has been named an assistant media relations coordinator with the Utah State [University] Athletics Department, it was announced Wednesday [April 29, 2015] by Associate Athletics Director Doug Hoffman. Denniston officially began his duties March 23.

“We are thrilled that Wade has joined the Athletics Department at Utah State,” said Hoffman. “Wade has a unique skill-set with his experience in the newspaper industry, along with his knowledge and history of USU Athletics. He is a natural fit for our office and we look forward to utilizing his talents for years to come.”

In his new position, Denniston will serve as the primary media contact for Utah State’s gymnastics, track and field and cross country programs, as well as assisting with a number of other sports, including football. In addition to game operations duties, Denniston will also assist with the daily operations of the athletic department’s various social media platforms.

Prior to joining Utah State, Denniston spent 15 years as a sports writer at The Herald Journal in Logan. The native of Cache Valley was the newspaper’s beat writer for Utah State’s football, women’s basketball and gymnastics programs.

“I am super excited to begin this next chapter in my professional career, working with the USU Athletics Department,” said Denniston. “Having grown up in Logan and been a life-long fan of the Aggies, as well as covering USU’s various sports teams for The Herald Journal, I am thrilled to now be a part of this great institution and look forward to the challenges associated with this position.”

Denniston graduated from Utah State in May 2001 with a bachelor’s degree in communications. During his time at USU, Denniston was a senior writer for the school newspaper and also was an intern for the athletic media relations office.
