Vice President of USU Student Services Takes Job at Nebraska

Juan N. Franco, vice president for Student Services, announced today [Feb. 23] that he has accepted a position of vice chancellor for Student Affairs at the University of Nebraska.

Franco, named Administrator of the Year in 2004, started work at Utah State University in May 2003. Prior to that, Franco worked as the liaison between New Mexico State and the New Mexico State Board of Regents as chief of staff.

 

“I want to let you know how much I have enjoyed working with you and having you as friends, and hope to continue our friendship after I leave Logan,” he said in an e-mail to members of the university’s executive committee. “Lisa and I will greatly miss USU and Cache Valley.”

 

“This is a significant loss for USU,” said President Stan Albrecht. “We will miss Juan very much. He has been tirelessly devoted to our students, not only as an administrator and teacher, but as a true gentleman and humanitarian.”

 

He is scheduled to begin work at Nebraska July 1 “so you are stuck with me for a few more months,” Franco quipped.

 

A search for his replacement is expected to being in the weeks ahead.
