Utah System of Higher Education Honors USU Faculty for use of Technology

Three Utah State University faculty members were honored by the state Commissioner of Higher Education, Richard E. Kendell, for their use and implementation of technology into distance learning and classroom instruction. Honorees include Vincent J. Lafferty, James Cangelosi and Pamela Dupin-Bryant.

The three were among 25 faculty members from Utah’s 10 public institutions who were honored at a recognition luncheon. The commissioner presented all with the 2006 “Utah System of Higher Education Exemplary Faculty Use of Technology Award.”

 

Lafferty, representing Utah State University’s Continuing Education programs in Extension, took the “Exemplar” award in increasing access to higher education through technology-delivered instruction. He was recognized for advocating higher education opportunities for rural communities, building community support for USU regional campuses, contributing to the development of numerous technology-delivered degree programs and demonstrating a career-long passion for distance learning.

 

Cangelosi, faculty member in the department of mathematics and statistics, won the Award of Merit in increasing access to higher education. His work extended endorsement opportunities to mathematics teachers at Eskdale, Bryce Valley, Panguitch, Gunnison and Piute high schools.

 

Dupin-Bryant, business information systems department, won the Award of Merit in distance education. Her award recognizes her efforts for teaching a complex subject in an organized manner and for extending that instruction to students across the state.
