Utah State Women's Gymnastics Opens 2017 Home Campaign Friday, Jan. 13
Utah State University Women’s Gymnastics will lift the lid on its 2017 home schedule with a tri-meet against 16th- ranked North Carolina State and Bowling Green on Jan. 13 at the Dee Glen Smith Spectrum. The event begins at 7 p.m. and will be streamed live on utahstateaggies.com/tv. Additionally, live scores will be available at www.utahstateaggies.com/livestats/w-gym/20170113.html. Links to both will be posted on the Utah State Athletics website on Friday. Fans can also follow the Utah State gymnastics social media outlets for meet updates.
It is the latest home opener for the Aggies since the 2014 campaign, when Utah State defeated BYU 193.200-192.900 on Jan. 24.
Utah State has not hosted a home-opening tri-meet since 2013, when the Aggies finished second with a 192.875, falling to Southern Utah (194.025), but defeating Hamline (181.975) on Jan. 25.
The last time Utah State competed at the Spectrum, the Aggies placed first in a Senior Night tri-meet on March 4, 2016. USU recorded a 196.025, which ranks second all-time in school history, while BYU finished second with a 195.550 and New Hampshire took third with a 193.825.
THINK PINK
Utah State's tri-meet against North Carolina State and Bowling Green is the Aggies' annual “Pink-Out Meet.” Fans wearing pink will receive $1 admission to the meet, and the first 100 fans will get a free pink gymnastics T-shirt.
HOME OPENERS
The Aggies are 30-15 all-time in home openers, a record that takes several multi-team meets into account. Nadalie Walsh is 3-0 in home openers as head coach of Utah State. In the Aggies' first-ever home meet on Jan. 13, 1978, they defeated Southern Illinois 135.950-129.750.
UTAH STATE AGAINST NORTH CAROLINA STATE
Utah State is 1-2 all-time against North Carolina State, including 1-0 at home, 0-1 on the road and 0-1 at a neutral site. The Aggies' lone victory against the Wolfpack was a 196.675-195.775 victory at home on March 14, 2003.
UTAH STATE AGAINST BOWLING GREEN
Utah State is 1-0 all-time against Bowling Green, recording a 196.000-194.175 victory at the UCLA tri-meet on March 16, 2014, in Los Angeles, Calif.
