Utah State University Team Takes Northwest Forensic Conference Championship

Utah State University's Speech and Debate team returned from its last conference tournament as conference champions, announced the team's volunteer coach Tom Worthen. Competing at Pacific University in Forest Grove, Ore., the team competed against and defeated a roster of 32 college and university teams, including Gonzaga University, Oregon State University, Pacific Lutheran University, Seattle University, Washington State University, the University of Montana and the University of Washington.

 

"Some of these schools have teams that are four times the number of students on our squad," Worthen said.

 

Utah State's Speech and Debate team took first place in team sweepstakes at the tournament, as well as first overall for three conference tournaments. The team is ranked 18th in the nation in debate.
