Utah State University Seeks Book Nominations

Utah State University’s Connections Common Literature Committee is seeking nominations for the 2016 Common Literature Experience book. Each year, incoming students in the University Connections course read the selected book over the summer and then attend a related convocation along with campus and community members.

Now in its 14th year, USU’s Common Literature Experience has enjoyed great success both with students and the general public. Past books include Frankenstein, The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind, The Beast in the Garden and Zeitoun. The readings serve as a foundation for discussion and learning about issues that have broad impact.

The committee chooses books that require students to think about the value of their degree as well as shows them the importance and benefits of being a contributing member of a learning community.

As other criteria for selection, the book must be readable, engaging and conducive to learning and should offer opportunities for integration into academic programs.

Nominations are being accepted through Wednesday, Nov. 25.
