Utah State University President Responds to Compensation Package

In response to action taken by the Board of Regents in relation to presidential compensation, Utah State University President Stan L. Albrecht has responded with a decision that will benefit students.

The Board of Regents, the governing body of the Utah System of Higher Education, approved salary increases for all of the state’s university and college presidents. During discussion, Albrecht requested that he receive no increase.

“In light of the current economic climate and in consideration for the many faculty and staff at Utah State University who have received no change in compensation for several years, I thought my request was appropriate,” Albrecht said in response to the Regents’ action.  

After the presidential compensation package was approved, Albrecht made a swift decision to donate the entire amount of his salary increase to the Aggie Promise Scholarship and other scholarship programs at Utah State University. The Aggie Promise Scholarship, created during USU’s Comprehensive Campaign, provides support for first-generation students attending USU, students who would have no other way of attending the university.
