Utah State Soccer Begins Preparation for 2016 Season

Utah State [University] soccer officially begin its 2016 season with a practice Wednesday, Aug. 3. The team reported for meetings and equipment distribution Tuesday. The Aggies will begin preseason preparation with fitness testing in the morning, followed by the first full training session at 4 p.m.

Utah State opens the competition season in exhibition play at Southern Utah Saturday, Aug. 13. Official play begins the next weekend as the Aggies play at South Dakota State Friday, Aug. 19, at 5 p.m. (MT), followed by a match at Eastern Washington Monday, Aug. 22, at 1 p.m. (MT). The Aggies open the home portion of the season against Utah Sunday, Aug. 28, at 1 p.m. Mountain West action will begin Friday, Sept. 23, when the Aggies host Colorado State. The season concludes in the Mountain West Tournament, hosted by San Diego State, Nov. 1-5.

All home games are played at Chuck and Gloria Bell Field, located at 1100 East 1400 North in Logan. Admission to home games is free and each match will be streamed live on the Mountain West Network.

The Aggies lose just two players from last year’s starting lineup, returning the other nine and 15 total letterwinners. Highlighting the group of returners is senior forward Jessica Brooksby, who led the team in scoring last season with 12 goals and two assists. The team brings back the full scoring corps, as the team scored 28 goals with 22 assists last season. The Aggie defense allowed 24 goals on the season, while the goalkeepers, led by Jeannie Woller, tallied 113 saves and earned seven shutouts.
