Utah State Research Foundation Elects New Board Chair

Utah State University Research Foundation’s (USURF) Board of Trustees elected member Garrison Rapmund, M.D., of Bethesda, Maryland, as its new chair. Dr. Rapmund’s election was June 6.

The Utah State University Research Foundation, incorporated in 1967 as a not-for-profit corporation owned by Utah State University, was established primarily to provide an organization for the management and physical support of applied research, the discovery of new ideas and the advancement of new technologies.

The Research Foundation currently has four units: the Space Dynamics Laboratory, the National Center for Design of Molecular Function, the USU Office of Technology Management and Commercialization and the Foundation’s newest unit, the Water Dynamics Laboratory.

“I am honored and excited by this opportunity,” Rapmund said. “I think there is an excellent match between the capabilities of Utah State’s community and the research needs of the nation in upcoming years.”
