Utah State’s Innovation Campus Hires Director
Utah State University hired J. Michael Brooks as director of its Innovation Campus starting Sept. 20. He will also serve as associate vice president for research and economic development.
"Mike Brooks brings a wealth of experience in building successful partnerships among high tech entrepreneurs, university research faculty and the community,” said Kermit L. Hall, president of Utah State. “This experience will be especially critical as the Innovation Campus enters an exciting period of sustained growth, not only for Cache Valley but the emerging Wasatch front high-tech corridor."
Brooks is charged with providing vision and leadership to develop the Innovation Campus from its current 38 acres to more than 150 acres, consistent with the recently completed master plan.
“Research universities are going to be the engines that drive technology-led economic development,” said Brooks. “It is exciting to have the opportunity to be a part of the Utah State University team that will impact technology-led economic development in Cache County and the state of Utah. I believe that my experiences will be an excellent complement to the vision and leadership of the university's commitment to economic development.”
