Utah State Hosts Hawai'i Saturday for Homecoming 2010

QUICKLY — For its Homecoming 2010 game, Utah State [University] (2-4, 0-2 WAC) will host Hawai'i (5-2, 3-0 WAC), who leads the nation in passing offense and is atop the league standings, in a Western Athletic Conference match-up that is also USU's Homecoming game. Kickoff for USU's first home afternoon game is slated for 3 p.m. at Merlin Olsen Field at Romney Stadium (25,513). Saturday's game is part of the Homecoming festivities that include the official dedication of Merlin Olsen Field, as well as the unveiling of the larger-than-lifesize Merlin Olsen statue on the south plaza of Romney Stadium. The battle between the Aggies and Warriors is televised by ESPN-Regional on Altitude (Comcast Ch. 61 in Cache Valley). The Trey and Jay show features Trey Bender handling play-by-play duties and Jay Taylor providing analysis.

SATURDAY'S STORYLINES — Things to watch for in Saturday's battle between the Aggies and Warriors:

USU looking to win two in a row vs. Hawai'i for first time since 1965-66 and take a 6-5 series lead.
Aggies trying to win back-to-back Homecoming games for first time since 2005-06, as USU currently has a 49-28-2 (.633) record when celebrating the navy and white tradition of Homecoming.
Utah State is seeking to win back-to-back home games for the second-straight season, as well as improve to 2-1 at home for the second year in a row.
Saturday's game features top two tacklers in the WAC in USU junior LB Bobby Wagner, who leads the league with 12.2 tackles per game while UH junior LB Corey Paredes is second at 11.7 tpg. Wagner is third in the FBS while Paredes is seventh.
USU senior QB Diondre Borel needs: * 20 yards of total offense to reach 7,000 career yards, becoming just the second USU QB to reach the milestone; * 313 passing yards for the 6,000-yard milestone, becoming just the fifth USU QB to reach that plateau, as well as needing 386 passing yards to crack the top four on USU's Career Passing lis; * 29 total offense yards to reach the WAC's Career Top 30 list, as the No. 30 spot is currently held by Fresno State's Tom Brandstater (2005-08).
USU KR/RB Kerwynn Williams needs 23 all-purpose yards to reach 2,000 for his career.

ON TV — Saturday's match-up of the Aggies and Warriors will be televised on ESPN-Regional TV, and will be aired on Altitude (Comcast Ch. 61 in Cache Valley). Trey Bender will handle play-by-play duties while Jay Larson will provide analysis.

COACHES SHOW ON THE ROAD — The Gary Andersen radio show will rotate between Bajio Mexican Grill and Firehouse Pizza on Thursday nights (6:05-6:45 p.m. on 610 AM KVNU) when the Aggies play on Saturday. The show gives USU fans an opportunity to ask questions and interact with Coach Andersen and players.
