Utah State Creates Office Hub in Downtown SLC

Utah State University President Kermit L. Hall announced today (Aug. 26) the signing of a lease agreement with Wells Fargo Bank for office space in downtown Salt Lake City.

 

The new office will serve as a hub for the university’s development office and an important contact point for Wasatch Front alumni and friends. It is also eyed as a springboard for new state economic development opportunities.

 

“This is where most of our alumni reside and so its makes abundant sense for us to be closer to them,” Hall said. “By strengthening our relationships with alumni and friends, we cultivate development opportunities.”

 

The new office will be anchored by the vice president for university advancement and development. Hall said housing one of the university vice presidents in Salt Lake City reflects a growing commitment to alumni and development activities. In addition, it signals a maturing of the second oldest state university in Utah that is becoming increasingly linked to Utah’s economic growth and opportunities.

 

The office, located on South Main Street, will occupy 1,601 square feet of space on the second floor of the Wells Fargo building and is expected to house between 5-7 people. It will also include a small retail area for purchasing Aggie merchandise. Move in is expected by Oct. 1.

 

Hall said occupying such a prime spot of downtown real estate could not have happened without the help and support of Dell Loy Hansen and Jonathan Bullen, both Utah State graduates and business partners in Wasatch Property Management and owners of the Wells Fargo Building. “We owe them a great debt of gratitude,” he said.

 

Hall said an office in the capital city will anchor fund raising opportunities and provide a base for potential state economic development. As one of the two flagship research universities, the potential for collaborative work increases between both the University of Utah and the business community with this new presence.
