Utah Public Radio Hosts Open House to Welcome Cathy Ives
Cathy Ives has joined Utah Public Radio as its general manager, and the station is holding an open house reception to welcome her to campus.
Members of the campus and Cache Valley communities are invited to meet Ives at the reception Wednesday, Jan. 31, from 5:30-8 p.m. at the Italian Place, 48 Federal Avenue, Logan. The event is free and all are welcome.
Ives was named UPR’s general manager in November 2006.
“We are so pleased to have Cathy Ives join Utah Public Radio and the College of Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences,” said Gary Kiger, dean of the college. “She brings a wealth of experience in public radio.”
Ives’ career spans more than 30 years in broadcasting; the last 15 in public broadcasting. Previously she was general manager of Salt Lake City’s KCPW and, before that, vice president at New Hampshire Public Radio.
A service of Utah State University, UPR is based in the College of Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences. It can be heard on KUSU FM (91.5) and KUSR (89.5) in Logan and throughout Utah.
Ives succeeds Richard Meng, who retired during summer 2006. He had worked at UPR since 1972 and directed the statewide radio service for 12 years.
