Utah Public Radio Adds 'The Splendid Table' to its Program Schedule

Utah Public Radio, a service of the College of Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences at Utah State University, will add “The Splendid Table,” public radio’s national food show, to its program schedule beginning Tuesday, June 3. The program can be heard on UPR Tuesdays at 10 a.m. and again Thursdays at 8 p.m.

Produced and distributed by American Public Media in Saint Paul, Minn., The Splendid Table is a culinary, culture and lifestyle one-hour program that celebrates the intersection of food and life. Each week, The Splendid Table’s Lynne Rossetto Kasper leads public radio audiences on a journey of the senses and leads discussions with a variety of writers and personalities who share their passion for the culinary delights.

“We are thrilled to be adding The Splendid Table to our program line-up,” said Cathy Ives, general manager of Utah Public Radio. “We did an on-line listener survey recently, and there was a large request by listeners to add the program. We are also adding some other great programs, and we will notify you of them in the near future.”

 

As a result of the radio program, Rossetto Kasper and producer Sally Swift collaborated for a new book, How to Eat Supper: Recipes, Stories and Opinions from Public Radio’s Award-Winning Food Show. The cookbook contains recipes, valuable tips and everyday culinary know-how. It introduces the people and stories that shape America’s sense of food.

 

The Splendid Table was named “1999 Best National Radio Show on Food” by the James Beard Foundation and “2000 Best National Syndicated Talk Show” by American Women in Radio and Television. Scripps Howard News Service distributes Rossetto Kasper’s advice column, “Ask The Splendid Table.” Her first cookbook, The Splendid Table is the only book to achieve the food world’s twin crown — The Cookbook of the Year Award from both the Julia Child/IACP and James Beard awards.

 

Her The Italian Country Table was named one of the best books of 1999 by Cook’s Illustrated Magazine. She has written for The New York Times, Washington Post, Los Angeles Times, Food & Wine Magazine and Bon Appetít. Named “One of the 12 Best Cooking Teachers in America” by The James Beard Foundation, she also lectures on food and culture in Europe and America.
