Utah Jazz Great Speaks at Utah State University

Utah State University welcomes former NBA star Jeff Hornacek Tuesday, Jan. 11, to speak about his basketball career.

The event begins at 7 p.m. in the Taggart Student Center Stevenson Ballroom.

Following his speech, Hornacek will answer questions and participate in a three-point shootout against Utah State men’s basketball player Brian Green.

“We wanted to get a sports figure who people know and recognize to come during the heart of basketball season,” said Tom Atwood, programming vice president for USU's Executive Council. “Jeff Hornacek is the perfect fit.”

Hornacek’s appearance is part of USU’s Art and Lecture Series. The event will take place during USU’s HURD Week.

Hornacek played in the NBA from 1986 to 2000. Midway through the 1993–94 basketball season, Hornacek was traded to the Utah Jazz. Hornacek played as the Utah Jazz shooting guard alongside Karl Malone and John Stockton. He contributed in driving the Jazz to the 1997 and 1998 NBA Finals. He remained with the Jazz until knee problems forced his retirement in 2000. Hornacek was known as one of the best three-point shooters in his league and won the NBA three-point competition twice.
