Utah Botanical Center Hosts Annual Garden Fair
The Utah Botanical Center hosts its Third Annual Garden Fair Saturday, Aug. 25, featuring advice on waterwise plants in home landscapes and an array of plants available for purchase. The fair runs from 8 a.m.-2 p.m., 920 S. 50 West, Kaysville.
Landscape architect Dale Torgersen will answer questions about incorporating beautiful waterwise plants in existing and new landscapes. Visitors are encouraged to bring plans and photographs of their landscapes.
A class on “Seasonal Splendor with Waterwise Plants” will be taught by JayDee Gunnell, Davis County Extension horticulture agent. Two sessions will be offered, one from 10:30-11:30 a.m. and the second from 12:30-1:30 p.m. The class is $5 per person and attendance is limited to 40 people per session. Tickets can be pre-purchased at the UBC Farmers Market, Thursday from 5-8 p.m.
All visitors are invited to enter a prize drawing for a package of waterwise plants worth nearly $200. Tickets for the drawing will be available at the landscape design booth and the winner will be announced at 2 p.m.
A selection of waterwise plants, included in “Utah’s Own” varieties will be sold during the fair, and UBC staff members will be available to answer questions and offer advice on plant selection. All proceeds from the day support development of the Utah Botanical Center.
