USU's Nic Bowens and Chari Hawkins Qualify for NCAA Indoor Championships

Seniors Nic Bowens and Chari Hawkins will represent Utah State [University] at the 2015 NCAA Indoor Championships. The championships field was announced Tuesday [March 3, 2015] by the NCAA Division I Men and Women's Track and Field committee.
The championships will take place Friday and Saturday, March 13-14, at the Randal Tyson Track Center hosted by the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville, Ark.
Bowens qualified in the 200m with a school and conference record time of 20.80 to win the event at the Mountain West Indoor Championships. His adjusted time of 20.87 is good enough to rank tied for 14th in the nation.
Hawkins qualified with a score of 4,194 points to win the pentathlon at the Mountain West Indoor Championships for the second-straight year. The score broke her own school record set the year before at the Mountain West Championships. Her score was the highest total ever recorded at the Mountain West Indoor Championships.
Bowens and Hawkins were named the men and women's Mountain West Outstanding Performers at this year's Mountain West Indoor Championships.
In last season's NCAA Indoor Championships, Hawkins was named second-team All-American after placing 14th in the pentathlon.
ESPN3 will stream the meet live March 13 and 14 starting at 7 p.m. ET. A tape delay of the championship will air March 23 starting at 7 p.m. ET on ESPNU.
