USU's Blue Goes Green Program Awards $16,000 for Sustainability Projects

Seven sustainability projects envisioned by Utah State University students will come to life as a result of $16,178 awarded through the Blue Goes Green grant program. 

Funded projects include the first solar array on the USU Logan campus, an electric vehicle to be used for sustainability programs like the Food Recovery and the Student Organic Farm campus stand, recycling bins for the Valley View Towers and a campus solar interpretation project. A Zimride marketing initiative, LLC dual flush toilets and compost containers and a green refillable cup program were also recently awarded funds.

This fall marks the eighth round of Blue Goes Green Grants since students passed the Blue Goes Green fee in 2011. Recipients will receive support from the Student Sustainability Office throughout the one-year project implementation period.

The grant selection committee is comprised of student representatives from each of Utah State University’s eight colleges. Awards were made based on the level of student involvement and benefit, impact on the campus at large, a clear evaluation and assessment plan with measurable results, financial responsibility and a well-articulated outreach plan.
