USU Wind Orchestra Hosts Roy Poper at Spring Concert

Utah State University’s Wind Orchestra, under the conductorship of Director of Bands Thomas P. Rohrer, hosts Roy Poper, professor of trumpet at the Oberlin Conservatory of Music, in an April 24 concert. The Friday concert begins at 7:30 p.m. in the Kent Concert Hall of the Chase Fine Arts Center (approximately 1110 E. 610 North, Logan). The performance is part of a series of master classes and lessons at the university made possible by a grant from the Marie Eccles Caine Foundation.

Concert admission is $5, with free admission to USU staff and students, as well as public school band students. Tickets are available at the CSA Box Office by calling (435) 797-8022, online or at the door.

 

For the concert, the guest artist joins USU’s Wind Orchestra for Sonata for Trumpet and Wind Ensemble by Kent Kennan, and a special duet, Vivaldi’s Concerto in C for Two Trumpets and Concert Band, with USU trumpet professor Jason Gamer.

 

The Wind Orchestra also performs Symphony for Band (“West Point”) by Morton Gould, Symphonic Songs by Robert Russell Bennett, Fiesta by Philip Sparke and Ghost Train by Eric Whitacre.
