USU Vice President Steps Down
Utah State University’s Vice President for University Advancement, M. Scott Mietchen, announced he is leaving the university effective Oct. 20, 2006.
Mietchen joined USU in November 2004 under the administration of President Kermit L. Hall.
During Mietchen’s tenure, USU experienced record fund raising totals, surpassed $31 million for the most recent fiscal year and received several of the largest gifts in university history.
He also played a pivotal role in developing plans for the university’s upcoming comprehensive campaign, which will be publicly announced in early 2007.
Under his leadership, the Utah State University Foundation Board of Trustees was also reconstituted and has begun playing a key role in supporting the fund raising programs of the university.
Mietchen expressed appreciation for the caliber of students, faculty and alumni of USU and the quality of the institution.
“My time at Utah State has been some of the most professionally rewarding of my fund raising career,” he said. “The students, faculty and staff of our university are superb, and the loyalty and enthusiasm of the alumni are unmatched.
“Under President Albrecht’s strong leadership, this university and its important land grant-mission will continue to be deserving of the loyalty and support of Aggies everywhere,” he said.
Albrecht thanked Mietchen for his dedication to USU.
“All of us at Utah State are tremendously appreciative of the professionalism, enthusiasm and innovation Scott brought to the job,” he said. “During his tenure we were able to expand our donor base, engage more alumni and raise more money than ever before, bring an enhanced professionalism to our fund raising operation and implement many important new innovations to our fund raising operation.
