QUICKLY -- Utah State (0-0, 0-0 WAC) will open the 2007 season at home when the Aggies host former Big West foe UNLV (0-0, 0-0 MWC) on Thursday, Aug. 30 at 6:05 p.m... Thursday not only marks USU's first non-Saturday game since Nov. 11, 2004, but the Aggies' earliest season-opener since 2003 and the earliest home-opener since the season before... This is the second time in the last three years that USU and UNLV have met in the Aggies' home opener... This marks the first time since 2002 that USU has opened a season at home - USU was scheduled to host Nicholls State for the 2005 home-opener but that game was cancelled due to Hurricane Katrina... The Aggies had their three-game home opener winning streak snapped last year, but USU is 7-4 in the last 11 seasons in its first game of the year in Romney Stadium... USU is 3-17 in its last 20 season-openers, winning in 1993, 1996 and 1997... In those three years of the Aggies winning their season-opener, USU has had a winning season, been to a bowl game or in some cases shared or won the conference title (USU was 7-5 in 1993, winning the Las Vegas Bowl and tying for the Big West Conference championship; 6-5 in 1996; 6-6 in 1997 after losing in the Humanitarian Bowl and again tying for the Big West championship)... Under head coach
Brent Guy, USU is 1-1 in home openers, winning the 2005 opener against these same UNLV Rebels.
