USU student dies in tragic accident on Old Main Hill

LOGAN -- Utah State University student Eric Scott Anderson, 24, of West Jordan, Utah, died Monday afternoon in a tragic accident on Old Main Hill at USU.

Anderson was riding his bicycle down the southwest corner of Old Main Hill through the grass when he hit a “slack line” that had been tied between trees by another group of individuals. Anderson was taken to Logan Regional Hospital where he died. The accident is still under investigation.

He was a music major who played trumpet and was a member of USU’s marching band.

“Our hearts go out to Eric’s family and friends,” said USU President Stan Albrecht. “This is an extremely tragic event, and we offer our sincere condolences to the family and to all the young people involved in this terrible accident.”
