USU's STE2M Center Opens in February

Utah State University is hosting an inauguration event for the opening of the USU Science, Technology, Engineering, Education and Mathematics (STE2M) Center Tuesday, Feb. 11, at 4 p.m. on the university campus. The event will be held at the STE2M center on the west end of the Edith Bowen Laboratory School just east of the Emma Eccles Jones Education building.

USU’s STE2M Center is working to increase the number and quality of STEM Educators and STEM professionals in the region and country. It will also conduct innovative research and development on computing and communication technologies in STEM Education.

David Feldon is directing the center where he looks at the development of research skills within STEM disciplines as a function of instruction and other educational support mechanisms. Chongning Sun, a doctoral student from Instructional Technology and Learning Services assists Feldon.

“The center hopes to increase the number of students entering and continuing through STEM career pathways,” Feldon said.

The center’s activities include interdisciplinary/cross-sector collaboration and networking; data compilation and analysis; evaluation, outreach and dissemination services; specialized workforce training; and lead unit for institutional STEM initiatives.
