USU's Special Collections and Archives has Extended Hours

To better serve its users, Utah State University’s Merrill-Cazier Library’s Special Collections and Archives division has extended its hours. The area, located in the basement of the Merrill-Cazier Library, will be open Saturday afternoons, 1-4 p.m.

“The extended hours were needed to better serve students and community members who had difficulty accessing the archives during the traditional Monday through Friday, 8-to-5 hours,” said Brad Cole, Special Collections and Archives director.

 

The area’s extended hours will be in effect during USU’s spring and fall semesters, but not during the summer.

 

Special Collections and Archives houses the university’s manuscript, photographic, rare and regional book collections, art and book art collections, the university archives and the Fife Folklore Archives. The collection’s primary focus is on the history of the Intermountain West, specifically northern Utah and southern Idaho.

 

Other strengths of the collection include Jack London and western literature, Mormon history in all its manifestations, agricultural and environmental history, folklore of the Intermountain region and visual arts and the art and history of the book.

 

Special Collections and Archives is open to the USU community as well as the public at large. There is no charge to do research in Special Collections and Archives.
