USU Science Unwrapped asks 'What is Organic, Sustainable Agriculture?'

We’ve all heard the terms ‘organic’ and ‘sustainable’ agriculture, but what do those descriptions really mean?
Utah State University’s Science Unwrapped explores this question Friday, Jan. 29, with USU soil scientist Jennifer Reeve. She presents “What is Organic and Sustainable Agriculture, Anyway?” at 7 p.m. in the Eccles Science Learning Center Emert Auditorium, Room 130, on the Logan campus.
“We’re not just interested in labels one might see in a supermarket’s produce section,” says Reeve, associate professor in USU’s Department of Plants, Soils and Climate and the USU Ecology Center. “We want to understand the scientific processes behind organic and sustainable agriculture.”
Reeve’s talk, free and open to all ages, is followed by hands-on learning activities, exhibits and refreshments.
Hosted by USU’s College of Science, Reeve’s presentation kicks off Science Unwrapped’s new, spring 2016 “Show Me the Data” series.
“We welcome our community to experience this fascinating series,” says Nancy Huntly, Science Unwrapped chair, director of USU’s Ecology Center and professor in the Department of Biology. “Our presentations offer something for everyone.”
