USU Rehabilitation Counseling Program Ranked 10th in the Nation

Utah State University’s rehabilitation counseling program is ranked 10th in the nation, according to U.S. News & World Report’s latest Best Grad Schools report.
The rankings correspond with the program’s employment rate, which has remained at 95 percent over the last 10 years.
But the best part is that USU graduate students can begin changing lives, even before earning their master’s degree. One of them was Maria Lewis, who was a coordinator of USU’s Employability Clinic. (The clinic brings in graduate student trainees from special education, rehabilitation and psychology.)
“Nothing is as intimidating as working with a real person,” she said. “There is no replacement for being given the opportunity and freedom to work directly with a person who needs it.”
What’s more, she worked to help find jobs for people that others had given up on.
“Our success rate was pretty high,” she said. “Those are the experiences that I pull from now, that other people that I work with haven’t had.”
She is now a doctoral student, a therapist and a research director.
