USU Public Land Study

Utah State University is conducting a study, funded by the Governor’s Public Land Policy Coordinating Office that is designed to identify key ways in which local communities, regions and the state of Utah are connected to public lands and the natural resources they contain. The first phase of the study, which involves a statewide telephone survey of Utah residents and a series of focus groups, including local and regional public officials from across the state, is now underway.

A telephone survey of randomly-selected households throughout Utah was also conducted. The survey is designed to obtain residents’ input regarding the importance of various public land issues and resources.

“We hope that everyone who is contacted will help us with this effort by spending just six or seven minutes to respond to the short list of survey questions,” said Utah State University researcher John Keith. “This will help to insure that our results will accurately represent the views of all Utahns.”

More information about this study can be obtained by calling Keith (435-797-2303) or Richard Krannich (435-797-1241) at USU.
