USU Performance Hall Earning Kudos

The Manon Caine Russell Kathryn Caine Wanlass Performance Hall has been appreciated by performers and patrons since its opening last year. It is also earning rave reviews from a number of architectural and educational organizations.

The Performance Hall was highlighted in the Feb. 23 issue of the Chronicle of Higher Education in a section focused on campus architecture.

Previously, the Performance Hall received three awards that honor the design and architecture of the Hall — an Honor Award from the Utah Chapter of the American Institute of Architects and two awards from the publication “Intermountain Contractor.” These awards include Best Architecture Project and Best Mechanical/Electrical Project.

The Performance Hall has been nominated for yet another award under consideration by the architecture jury for the Society of College and University Planners-American Institute of Architects. The evaluation is by the committee on architecture in education.

The building was also in the spotlight in a piece by writer Jeremy Pugh in Utah Style and Design magazine.

“Great architecture is not born solely from a drafting table and blueprints,” Pugh wrote. “More often it originates from a delicate mix of visionary benefactors, a dedicated purpose, a supportive community, and, of course, talented design professionals. All these elements contributed to the construction of the Manon Caine Russell Kathryn Caine Wanlass Performance Hall located on the Utah State University campus in Logan.”

Architect for the project was Sasaki Associates with associate architects Gould Evans. The contractor for the project was Jacobsen Construction.
