USU Music Faculty Rocks Out to Thad Jones, Thelonious Monk and More
Jazz is in the spotlight in a music department faculty recital Wednesday, Feb. 18, at USU's Caine Performance Hall.
Utah State University’s Department of Music presents “Three & One,” a faculty recital, Feb. 18 at 7:30 p.m. in the Caine Performance Hall on the USU Logan campus.
USU faculty members Josh Skinner and Kate Skinner will present a concert of jazz standards, featuring music by artists that include Thad Jones, Thelonious Monk, Horace Silver and Cole Porter.
Josh Skinner said other faculty members, including Jon Gudmundson, Corey Christiansen and Jason Nicholson, will join the two Skinners on stage.
Kate Skinner is a jazz pianist and vocalist who maintains an active performing, composing and teaching career. She grew up studying classical piano and listening to R&B and hip hop before delving into jazz at the age of 17.
Josh Skinner is a bassist who also maintains an active career as a performer and educator. Fluent in jazz and classical idioms, he performs with numerous orchestras and ensembles while co-leading a funk-pop fusion group called Promotional Code.
Tickets for “Three & One” are $10 general admission, $8 seniors and youth, $5 USU faculty and staff and free for USU students with ID.
