LOGAN, Utah — Beginning fall 2026, the Jon M. Huntsman School of Business at Utah State University will offer a new Bachelor of Science in Professional Sales designed to meet growing workforce demand across Utah and beyond.
The new degree expands the Huntsman School’s nationally recognized ProSales program into a full undergraduate degree.
The curriculum will focus on consultative selling, strategic account management, customer success, negotiations and sales analytics while leveraging the Huntsman School's strong business foundation and employer partnerships.
The new major builds on more than a decade of success through the Huntsman School's ProSales program, which has established a reputation for hands-on learning, employer engagement and 100% student placement. Students will graduate with the business acumen and practical sales experience needed to create, grow and retain customer relationships across industries including technology, health care, manufacturing, aerospace and consumer products.
The professional sales major combines a rigorous business education with applied learning opportunities, including internships, competitions, employer mentoring and optional global learning experiences.
Housed within the Department of Marketing and Strategy, the degree prepares graduates for careers such as account executive, business development representative, customer success manager, sales engineer, account manager and sales operations analyst. The major will be offered at Utah State's statewide campuses and through USU Online, increasing access for students across Utah.
"Sterling Bone and Kaelyn Loveless have done an exceptional job building the ProSales program in the Huntsman School," said Frank Caliendo, interim dean of the Jon M. Huntsman School of Business. "We are committed to helping students develop the professional skills that they will need to succeed after college, and I expect this new major to be highly attractive to students in Utah."
The timing reflects increasing employer demand for graduates who combine strong business fundamentals with specialized sales expertise. Many business-to-business sales careers offer salaries well above the statewide median, with demand driven by Utah's expanding technology, aerospace, life sciences, advanced manufacturing and health care industries.
The Huntsman School's established ProSales ecosystem gives students direct access to employer partnerships, industry mentors, competitions and experiential learning opportunities that prepare them for immediate success after graduation. Graduates of the new major will be well positioned for careers that fuel growth and innovation across Utah's economy.
“Organizations are looking for graduates who know how to build relationships, solve problems, communicate with confidence and create value for their customers, and that's exactly what our Aggies do,” said Chad Albrecht, marketing and strategy department head. “This major will prepare even more students for meaningful, high impact careers while helping fuel the growth of businesses, communities and economies throughout Utah, across the nation and around the world. The future is incredibly bright, and I can't wait to see what our students accomplish.”
