USU Hosts Wilson Motor Indoor

Jan. 17, 2007

LOGAN, Utah — Utah State University’s track team will host the annual Wilson Motor Indoor, its lone home meet of the indoor season, this Saturday [Jan. 20]. The meet will include Southern Utah, Weber State and Utah.

The meet, which will be held in the George Nelson Field House, is free to the public. Field events begin at 10 a.m., with the running events set to start at 11 a.m. The last event, the 3,000 meters is scheduled for 2 p.m.

USU head coach Gregg Gensel said he is looking forward to the event.

"It gives the athletes an opportunity to show off in front of their friends and families, and it means a lot to them," Gensel said.

USU opened its indoor season last week at a meet at Idaho State. USU produced five winners, including DJ Smith in the 60 (6.78), Scott Bell in the 60-meter hurdles (8.28) and Kevin Liu in the weight throw (58-11.00) on the men's side. Aggie women who took first place include Brittany Chadwick in the 60 (7.98) and Amber Peterson in the 400 (57.25).

At last year's home meet Aggie senior Kathryn DuHadway set a school record in the pole vault with a mark of 3.97 meters (13-00.25). [Utah State Today features DuHadway in a Highlight in this issue.]

Results will be made available on USU's athletic page Web site at www.UtahStateAggies.com as soon as possible after the meet.
